Welcome to our very first Love Letter!

Celebrating The Divine Mother!

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 9th in the United States where I live. We celebrate all mothers and all forms of mothering. We celebrate the mothers in our lives for the feelings of safety and deep sense of belonging that are the foundations of our success as human beings in the world.

Let’s think of the mothers in our lives: mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, aunts, sisters, teachers, mentors, counselors, coaches, ministers. Some of you will even think of men in your life who nurtured you as a mother would. And for those who have/had significant pain around the relationship with your mother, take a moment to focus on the Divine Mother energy that is available to each and every one of us at all times, in every moment.

All of creation is nurtured by the Divine Mother. Her energy is abundant, unlimited, and always flowing. She is referred to by many names depending on the culture and tradition. In Christianity, she is Mother Mary, in indigenous cultures she is Mother Earth, in western society she is Mother Nature, in eastern spirituality she is the divine feminine or Yin energy.

Like the Divine Mother, mothers love and support other beings -- humans, animals, and the whole earth. Mothers create and nurture new life. An integral part of mothering is waiting for life to unfold and for young to grow into their fullness. Just as many animals are pregnant or tending to eggs in the spring, this month is a wonderful time for you to plant seeds. What seeds would you like to plant in May? What would you like to manifest in your life in the coming months? We will talk more about this this month’s Love Notes.

Our spirit animal this month is Turtle. Turtle Totem teaches us we deserve the limitless nurturing energy from the Divine Mother. In Native American spirituality and other indigenous traditions, Mother Earth is that Divine Mother energy. There is a constant supply of abundance flowing from Mother Earth. She is always providing her birds with the material needed to build their nests each spring, with water for her fish to swim in, with berries for her bears to eat, with lichen and ferns for her deer to eat, and an abundance of magnificent landscape for her humans to be inspired by. Turtles crawl belly to the ground and they carry their home with them everywhere they go. If there's any sense of danger or threat they're able to quickly pull into their shell and feel protected. Turtles are slow moving. They move through their life at a consistent and slow pace, never in a hurry, but always arriving exactly where they need to be when they need to be there. Turtle teaches us that we, too, have the ability to protect ourselves by establishing healthy boundaries. How can you establish better boundaries for yourself this month? Turtle also shows us that we will always arrive at our dreams and goals in perfect time. How can you build deeper faith in divine timing this month?

A Daily Practice is a vital and wonderful tool for bringing all of this together in your heart and soul! A Daily Practice is time you dedicate to yourself each day. It can look different for each person. Usually, a Daily Practice includes quiet time, meditation, prayer, journaling, and inspirational reading. This is time for you to check in with your heart, with your relationship to your higher power, and with your creative self, your desires. This is a really important part of cultivating joy and love, and peace in one's life. We will explore this more in the coming Love Letters and Love Notes.

Do you have a Daily Practice? If so, is it time to freshen it up and infuse it with new energy? You could do some spring cleaning of your practice! Or if you do not have one in place yet, could you take a little time each day to dedicate to YOU? Here are some things you could do to get close to Mother Earth! Go for a walk and gaze at the blooming flowers. Sit outside under a tree and listen to the birds. Walk barefoot in the grass and feel the textures of earth. Sit near an open window or sit outside and spend 5 minutes relaxing and noticing everything around you.

In closing, I want to remind you how deeply loved you are by the Divine Mother just simply because you are part of creation. You have the power within yourself to make positive joyful change in your life, to plant your seeds, and allow yourself the time and space to grow. Thank you for joining me on this journey to love, heal, and grow! I look forward to talking to you next week about Turtle totem. If you have any questions or comments send them my way. If you would like support, go to my website and schedule some time with me.

Share the love! Please share this with a friend.

Always remember that you are loved beyond measure!

Lovingly,

Susan
